WOMEN'S RUN

Postby Puffin on Thu Jul 26, 2007 9:25 pm

I'm going to 'gate-crash' on 9 Sep! I was late in registering on-line for the 10km run, didn't expect the response to be so overwhelming. :( I took part last year and I enjoyed the run. :)

There's another running event for women and it's the Great Eastern Women 10K on 21 Oct 07. I'd registered so that I won't be disappointed.

i hope the runners here are more ethical... if you have not register for the event, then you should not be running... if you want to run, please go else where to run and not use the water, mobile toilet, medical services that the registered runners have paid for... :x

and i hope the organiser of the run will take note of this...

Shape Run 2007

Postby Puffin on Mon Jul 30, 2007 10:03 pm

I refer to Ripley's comment on my intention to 'gate-crash' the Shape Run. I'm an ethical runner as I'll start at the end of the pack ( I believe that I can catch up with many runners ahead of me) and I won't be using the porta-john, medical service or water point (I don't need to drink for a 10km run even I've paid for the run!).

:) in that case, you can run before the event, or after everyone has packed up... not soaked in the atmosphere... :p

Really Puffin, why would you want to crash the run? What if the organizers stop you? You would feel more pissed off, and it would ruin your mood for the rest of the day, right? So if you really want to run, please run somewhere else.

A thing I'd like to add. This is not about u using the event's supplies. Do think of the organizers. Like you wouldn't want anyone to crash your wedding/birthday party. So please respect the event organizers, registered runners and yourself. Don't run at the event if you are not registered.

There are lots of running events coming up. I am particularly looking forward to the Real Run by Real Balance. I am running the 15km, hope to see you there.

Free Loaders

Postby may on Thu Aug 02, 2007 1:57 pm

I agree with spottycow and Ripley. As participants, we are paying for a good running experience. The reason why the organiser cap the capacity is so that they could have better control over the human traffic and ensure all registered participants can have a good run. ie. no overcrowding, bottlenecks, shoving etc. That's the reason why I sign up for this event in the first place, not like those rowdy, start-run-stop, run- stop sheares bridge run and being shoved by nasty smelly NS men. I hope the organiser could help to eliminate the "free loaders". including the "boyfriends" & "husbands". Come on! its a girls event, they are transvesite or what? These are men or sissies?! Just like paying for a concert, we pay for the experience, and what if it suddenly becoming a overcrowded free for all event? Free loader, shame on you! Let's all give these people nasty stares.

I shall heed Spottycow's less harsh advice, not to 'gate-crash' on 9 Sep. Frankly, I've never 'gate-crashed' any running event as I'm always early in regsitering except for this year's Shape Run. There are Terry Fox Run on 16/9, Great Eastern Women 10km Run on 21/10, Real Run on 28/10 & Standard Chartered Marathon 0n 2/12 all of which I'd registered. Also a Vertical Marathon on 18/11 (need to post registration form together with cheque payment).

Our hot, humid weather causes runners to sweat profusely, so the "aroma" is inevitable when there are many participants and 'bottenecks' along the course route lah.
