I also have missed out on picking up the race pack and called the management this morning.

I had to call again only to find out that the management's stance is that runners who did not manage to collect the race pack will not be allowed to join in the run. Which is utter nonsense!

The receptionist, Lai Fong told me to call them again tomorrow morning.

I think this tardiness wrt the client's expectations is very disappointing. I had thought that they would be responsible enough to return my call once some kind of statement has been issued. I am very disappointed with the Shape Run committee.

It cant be helped that ultimately some ppl will forget about collecting it cos they sent out the comfirmation email so early. Plus no reminder was given. Also, a total of 8000 ppl are taking part, who can be sure all 8000 will rmb to collect the kit???

It's ridiculous that we are not allowed to take part in the run just becos of this! I strongly urge the committee to give a response on this.

Oh my! This would not be what I would expect. At the very least, allow us to pick up the kit on the day itself. I recalled this can be done in previous year's race.. not sure if I remembered the correct race or not. I had emailed to the contact email as well but no reply yet. They should at least post a notice on the website to assist those who missed picking up the runner's kit.

Maybe we should notify them by calling them

Postby pusspst on Mon Jul 14, 2008 1:39 pm

Hello fellow runners,
The number I called is 63196236 and the receptionist (who is not very friendly), LaiFong will be answering ur call.

I guess if we call them up to signal to them that there are paying participants who might not have picked up the race kit for whatever reasons, we might be able to push them to give us some kind of answer.

I also asked the same question about this same situation for 2007 run but got a very icy reply from this receptionist,"I can't comment at this point in time. You should call back tomorrow."

Goodness I thought I was ringing up the PM's office! So sisters, I urge you, call them!!!

My friend said the same thing. Call them and make them face the problem! I shall do so tmr. Thanks for the number!

I will be the worst-ever customer who's ready to lodge a complaint. So LaiFong better be ready. (It's amazing you even got the name.)

Well, in any case, i will still turn up for the event and get my kit (eventually). I mean, i already paid for it right? If there's 8000 ppl taking part, there should be 8000 kits. No reason i cant get mine.

no email reminder at all

Postby nas on Mon Jul 14, 2008 11:24 pm

Hey. I'm very dissapointed by how this run is being organised and handled.

I too registered at the roadshow outside wisma atria. After a few weeks I did not get my confirmation email while my friends who registered with me on the same day did. So I emailed SAA about it. First they said my name was not in their system and asked me to check with my bank. Like hello I paid by cash. We could only pay by nets or cash at the roadshow. So after specifying that, I think they got down to finding my name and emailed me my confirmation letter after two or three days.

Then so far I did not receive an email reminding participants about the Shape Carnival or collecting our tees and number bibs at the carnival. The website specifically said they participants will be notified by email about it. Did we? No. My friends did not get the email either. And neither of us were aware about the carnival dates because we were so busy. So what right does the organiser have to prohibit us from joining the run when they did not fulfill their task in the first place?

Sorry to say this, but it was stated in the confirmation email regarding the collection of the no. bib and tee at the Carnival. It's in small print so i guess you have to see clearly at the bottom, unless it's a different email you received.

i just managed to reach the organisors... they will be arranging for an additional day of collection for the tshirt and bibs tomorrow (16 July Wed). One day only... the person say... you miss it and no more chance... here's the collection venue and time:

Venue: Singapore Sports School
Blk 1, 3 Champions Way, #01-10

Date/Time: 16 July 2008, 9am to 8pm

hope this will reach all the runners who like me... forgot to collect their kit... i doubt the organisors will send emails to everyone about this extra day of collection... hopefully this forum can help...

Shape Up Shape Run 2008 Comm

Postby Geewhiz on Tue Jul 15, 2008 12:26 pm

Totally agree with many of you out there when disseminating info is concerned. The Shape Run Committee do themselves certainly need to shape up. Where basic info is concerned, an email or contact number is certainly the least the organisers can provide.

After calling & waiting for a good 45min to SPH, I managed to speak to Lai Fong. All thanks to the SPH receptionist who located her as she was walking by.

For those of us who've yet to collect the timing device, you've only got a day to collect it ie. tomorrow at the very obscure Sports School all the way in Woodlands, betwen 9am to 8 pm.

???

Postby ResRun on Tue Jul 15, 2008 12:31 pm

seems like the organisers have allowed an extension to the collection.
i don't think it's really fair to those of us who actually made it a point to go down last weekend.

i'm from the states and over there, runners are expected to collect their bibs during the specified timings and as responsible and earnest runners, we adhere to the rules and regulations.

and to be fair to the organisers, i think we have to learn to be responsible runners ourselves first before we start pointing fingers. we are not babies, why do we expect to be spoon-fed? we paid for the run, not the goodie bags (these just come along free).
