Me and my friend are very disappointed as we didnt managed to get the finisher bracelet after completing our 10K. Saw some having more than 1 pc.

no finisher's bracelet

Postby cindyfaith on Mon Jul 20, 2009 5:15 pm

I am extremely disappointed that I didn't get a finisher's bracelet.
I think many of those who didn't manage to get one have talked about how disorganised it was and how many runners or outsiders were allowed to take more than one.
Shape should send those who have completed the run a bracelet as it is equivalent to the medal that many other runs give to their finshers. The lack of action would reflect very badly on the magazine and could potentially cost the magazine many once loyal supporters.
The cost of the run is high and it is the job of the magazine to ensure that the runners have a good time.

Another question that puzzles me, why is the bracelet not placed in the runners' kit? or why is the counter not arranged to be just beside the runners' kit collection point.

Nike Finisher Bracelet

Postby maddie on Mon Jul 20, 2009 7:27 pm

I too didn't get the finisher bracelet! It was rather a chaotic situation at the end of the run. Although we had a good run, i sincerely hope that more thought is put into organizing the location after run.

I didn't get one too ... and I am so mad. We frequent runners need those finisher bracelet more than the runner's kit ... I wrote an email to the event organiser I am not sure if they will respond to it, but I sure hope someone is looking into this forum! Disappointing!

no bracelets

i agree!!! why couldn't they have a system like the runner's kit? one tab for one bag. i saw so many other women carrying more than one box in their hands, so ridiculous these women can get, and the helpers just allowed them to take????!!!!!??!?! SERIOUSLY?!?!!?

Agreed on how disorganised this event was!

esp on the Finisher Bracelet!

I have attended few runs & this is the 1st time I encountered an event which ran out of the Finisher Medal! & I think that having a seperate 5km Finisher from the 10km Finisher would be better too!

My aunt did not manage to get the finisher bracelet too & she completed 10km! It was totally unfair as I completed the race earlier & saw some ladies (even the men) were having 2-3 boxes in their hands! I mean they could be taking for their frens temporarily but surely some greedy & selfish ppl took >1 box... It happened that it was also my aunt's bday! What a disappointment as she thought it will be nice to run on such a special day & getting the Finisher Bracelet as a memento...

My sister & I tried to speak to one of the ladies (with the Official tag) but there's no reply yet... Thru our conversation, she tried to tell us that she will feedback to the team & they will do better nxt yr... & when I asked if there's a replacement for my aunt & she mentioned that it might not be possible to find out who has collected & who has not collected the Finisher Bracelet...

A finisher bracelet should only be meaningful to ladies who have completed the run as it's engraved w Shape Run 2009... I wonder what would those who have taken extras do with 'em...

I posted this cos am so unhappy over the finisher bracelet which me & my girlfriend did not get (we both ran the 10km).Yepp, saw some with more than 1 box in hand. Both of us came in abt 1 hr+& decide to collect runner's kit abt 1/2 hr later (needed some warm down& rest). When ready to collect, we were displeased with the disorganised queue line cos couldn't find the start&end point. After much asking, we went to the tail end of queue which was like a long snake wriggling in&out.OMG :x not to mention under the hot sun!were perspiring again, worst than the 10km run. :x
Oh yes, abt the road marker, no indicating of distance mark except at the 5km &10km. Wat a letdown, could'nt know my distance covered during run.
Hopefully, oganiser could do some makeup for those who (genuinely) didn't get finisher bracket (read from papers 8,800 were produced)and also improve on the logistics as well. This my 3rd run and final one i supposed if nothing much has improved.

Since the race organiser has prepared 8,800 pcs of bracelets, then all runners should be entitle to it. In their statement which appears in ST today, they said "we have noted runners' feedback and will take them into consideration for our future runs." Shouldnt they do a service recovery by giving out the bracelets to those who did not receive? They didnt even apologise....

Nike Finisher Bracelet

Postby lynnmohd on Tue Jul 21, 2009 11:41 am

My friend persuaded me to join Shape & Run '09. This was my 1st year run. I'm not sure how the event goes but VERY disppointed that i didn't get the finisher bracelet after completing my 10km. My friend ran for her 3rd time also complained about the water point being so far & insufficient distance marker. She said that this year was the WORST year. I'm not sure if i will sign up again for next year. I really hope that the organiser do something about the finisher bracelet. It's TOTALLY unfair for those who did not manage to get it. For those KIASU ladies, maybe you can return back if you got that EXTRA finisher bracelet so that the others can have it... (DREAM ON) :x

my neighbor managed to get the bracelets and according to her, apparently, the nike hunks were just giving them out without consideration at all becoz her colleague managed to get an extra one just by asking for it! they said they didn't know it was a finisher's bracelet, they were just trying their luck, thinking it was just some souvenir from the sponsor. afterall, it wasn't communicated to participants that we were getting a finisher's medal or whatever. this is absurd! honestly can't exactly blame the runners who took extra, i think the nike hunks should do the explaining! spend so much time working out at the gym that they forgot to exercise their brain as well. *disgusted*

I sure hope no one will buy it. It's just not right to be profiteering from this.
