Did not get Finisher's Bracelet!

Postby jac2411 on Sun Jul 19, 2009 2:22 pm

There is no signage saying where to collect the Finishers' Bracelet.
When i finally got to know where to collect, they said all are given out already! No more! What?? Shouldn't there be enough for all runners??

A few of my friends who managed to collect it, said that the helpers did not check their bibs or anything when giving out the bracelet.
I too, saw many ladies having more than 2 on their hands! I'm sure most of them collected extras for their friends!
It's unfair to those who really went for the run and who completed the distance!

I'm not the only one who did not receive it.

Anyone of you who did not receive it as well?

So it was the fault of the volunteer and SHAPE for not giving a proper briefing to them!?!?!

So sorry to hear that some of you didn't get the finisher's bracelet. I got mine but I too saw some women carrying more than 1.

While I agree that the organizers should have managed the giving out of these better, I am also upset at those who took more than they should. A real shame for cheapening the significance of being a finisher. Definitely not in the spirit of being a good sport!

I didn't get mine too. When I managed to find the place to get, everything was gone!

Can the organiser please explain the BIG MESS at Millienium Walk today?

Yes yes, it is a shame to those who took more than they should.
It was definitely not a considerate move to do that.

Yes!
A responsible organiser should give everyone a detail explanation of the big mess today.
And they should compensate a finishers' bracelet to those who did not get it.

The officials announced to come back later as it was so crowded and when we returned, the bracelets are out of stock. When we asked the official, there isn't a word of apology! The amount of bracelet should be sufficient to all the participants. Shame on those ladies who took more then they should!!!!

din get 1 too. when they call it 'finisher' bracelet, it should be meant for finisher of the run, isn't it? just like finsher medal, only runners can get. but i saw some holding 5 or 6. so there is no limit for anyone to collect. if it is not limited to runner, then don call it 'finisher ....'. i believe this is exclusive item, this is not vitagen or marigold yogurt where it is free for all.

so why can't it be put in the runner kit?????? for those 10k runner who did their best to complete 10k in a longer time, yet can't get 1. it was really disappointed.

i just went for kl std chtd 2 weeks back, though it was as messy, but i m assured with a finisher medal.

organiser, pls don reply saying that this is 'first come first serve' or 'while stock last' kinda excuses.

ha....i doubt they would compensate. they will say this is fr sponsor NIKE, so unless NIKE can give. but problem is how many?? they can't trace, unless they give everyone again. really hope to see what the organiser/sponsor have to say.

All these things happened with the bracelet really cheapen the whole image of NIKE. I no longer feel any prestige with the brand.

The NIKE tee will now belong to my 'home wear' pile.

Disappointing

Postby ackx on Mon Jul 20, 2009 11:03 am

My friend and I ran the 10k but did not manage to get the finisher's bracelet as well. She finished earlier than me and didn't even know about it.

All the races I did previously (SCSM, GE10k, Sundown 10k) created a path for all finishers to go through at the end of the race where the finisher's medal will be given out and the volunteers would make a marking on our bibs to make sure no one collects more than once. Finisher medals/bracelets/etc are for participants who FINISHED the race, and nowhere does it say it is a first come first serve, or whilst stocks last basis. And if the organisers dare say so, then they seriously need to re-learn how to organise a run.

And I totally agree that the runner's kit should be given a week earlier together with the tee and bib. Why make the exhausted runners queue for something they are entitled to? (And it is not like we haven't queued once the week before this.)

Get the basics of race organisation right instead of wasting time organising the carnival and post-race entertainment. Your runners will thank you for that.
